Exhibition - Bewdley Festival

Monday 6 October to Monday 27 October

Join us this October at our Wyre Forest Gallery for a captivating exhibition featuring two distinguished members of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA): Colin Simmonds and Peter Sheard. This free exhibition offers a rich visual journey through expressive landscapes and vibrant printmaking, celebrating the diversity and depth of contemporary British art.

Colin Simmonds RBSA brings a painterly exploration of landscapes, ranging from still-life compositions to panoramic views of Birmingham, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, and Herefordshire. His work is known for its emotional depth, expressive brushwork, rich tonal colours, and rhythmic drawing - inviting viewers to reflect on atmosphere, colour, and composition.

Peter Sheard RBSA, trained at Birmingham College of Art and Crafts, presents a bold collection of woodcut and linocut print reliefs. His prints are characterised by bright colours, distinct outlines, and playful distortions of perspective. Each piece is meticulously crafted using separate blocks for each colour and printed on his own hand press. Peter’s work has earned numerous accolades, including the Manchester Academy prize and First Prize in the 2006 RBSA Open Print Exhibition. His recent public art commission includes glass panels for Midland Metro stations.

Whether you're an art enthusiast or simply curious, this exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to experience the creativity and craftsmanship of two celebrated artists in the heart of Bewdley.
