“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats…”

Join us this summer at our outdoor theatre in our beautiful Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens  for some award-winning theatre. This year we have teamed up with Quantum Theatre to bring you a performance of the Wind in the Willows.

Spring is in the air and Mole has found a wonderful new world. There’s boating with Ratty, a feast with Badger and high jinx on the open road with that reckless ruffian, Mr Toad of Toad Hall. The four become the firmest of friends, but after Toad’s latest escapade, can they join together and beat the wretched weasels?

Join Mole, Ratty and Badger on their adventures, picnicking on the river bank, messing about on boats, and rescuing the reckless Mr Toad from his brushes with the law in this heartwarming, whimsical tale of friendship, mishap and madcap adventures in Quantum Theatre’s brand new adaptation of this timeless Kenneth Grahame classic.

Quantum Theatre produces and tours original work and adaptations of the classics into theatres, outdoor venues and schools throughout the UK and Ireland. All Quantum’s output is written (or adapted) and produced by the artistic director, Michael Whitmore who has evolved Quantum’s characteristic style; pacey, humorous theatre accessible to all ages whether it be Michael’s own plays or his adaptations of the classics, such as Shakespeare and Beatrix Potter.

It could be very hungry work so come prepared with picnics and appropriate outdoor gear; garden chairs or blankets.

The cafe will be open for food, drink and ice cream.
